Local leaders from Occidental Mindoro, led by Governor Eduardo Gadiano together with Vice Governor, Congressman, board members, and eleven mayors, have expressed their full support for the upcoming peace rally organized by the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) this coming Monday. The rally aims to promote unity among national leaders.
Governor Gadiano emphasized that the initiative was a collective decision by local leaders, noting that the early part of the year provides an opportunity to call for unity and peace. He added that this show of support for the INC’s peace rally coincides with their backing of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call for unity among the nation’s leaders.
“We decided to take this initiative because we believe it’s a good time to call for peace and unity. This also aligns with our support for the peace rally organized by the Iglesia ni Cristo on Monday,” said Gadiano.
The leaders from Occidental Mindoro responded to President Marcos’ appeal to cease the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte, which has been causing division. The President’s call aims to prevent further discord and foster national unity.
“Our bottom line here is our support for the President’s call to end the impeachment process. We agree with the President that this division is causing chaos, and it is important to stop it. That’s why we’re supporting his call,” Gadiano said.
Gadiano clarified that there was no directive from Malacañang regarding their call for peace and unity. “This is our own initiative. We hope other governors and leaders from different regions will join us in calling for peace and unity. If all of us make this call, it will set a positive tone for the entire year. Unity and peace will drive our progress,” he added.
The INC’s peace rally on Monday stems from their call to stop the impeachment process against Vice President Sara Duterte and to encourage reconciliation between the Marcos and Duterte camps for the sake of the nation’s well-being.
Governor Gadiano urged other local leaders to take a stand and show their support for unity, emphasizing the importance of working together for the common good.
As of today, members of the Iglesia ni Cristo from Occidental Mindoro are preparing to travel to the Quirino Grandstand for the rally.
Occidental Mindoro is the first province to publicly express support for the peace rally, highlighting their commitment to promoting peace and unity in the nation.
