The Calamba City Gender and Development (GAD) Office recently held a gender sensitivity training for local media practitioners, alongside representatives from the academe, non-government organizations (NGOs), and the city’s Information Office. The training aimed to raise awareness on gender issues and foster a more inclusive and balanced representation in the media.
This initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to fully implement gender mainstreaming as a core component of its Gender and Development program. The creation of a local media board, which was discussed during the session, is one of the key requirements for the successful implementation of gender-sensitive policies and practices in Calamba.
The training led by LGU-Calamba GAD Supervisong Administrative Officer Ms. Jasmin Siman provides valuable insights into gender equality, helping media professionals and other attendees better understand their role in promoting gender-sensitive content. By involving various sectors such as the academe and NGOs, the city aims to create a unified approach to addressing gender issues in the community.
The establishment of the local media board is expected to further enhance the city’s commitment to gender equality and ensure that gender-sensitive perspectives are integrated into local media practices.
