CALAMBA CITY, Laguna– The Philippine National Police (PNP) Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) Region stationed at Camp Vicente Lim, Mayapa Village in this city, will intensify police operations against Rape through rape prevention education dubbed as Project L.U.K.A.S. (Labanan, Umaksyon, Kausapin ang buong Pamilya, Abusadong Rapist, Sama-samang Pigilin”.

Police Brigadier General Paul Kenneth T. Lucas, regional director, in a statement received today, urged the police force and the public to address the increasing number of rape cases in the Calabarzon.

“The battle against rape in our community requires a united front. The police, in collaboration with community members, must spearhead initiatives that not only respond to incidents but actively work towards prevention,” RD Lucas said in his statement.

“Hindi natin ito kakayanin ng tayo-tayo lang. Kaya sa pamamagitan ng proyektong ito ay mahihikayat natin ang ating mga kababayan lalo na ang mga biktima ng rape na magsumbong o i-report ang insidente sa mga otoridad (We can’t handle it alone. So through this project we can encourage our countrymen especially rape victims to report or report the incident to the authorities),” he added.

“ Let us encourage them to be proactive in reporting rape cases, supporting victims, and participating in educational programs.” RD Lucas ended.

It can be recalled that during a recent command conference a program was proposed to address the increasing number of rape cases which includes statutory rape, rape under influence of liquor and illegal drugs, fetishism, gang rape and grave abuse of authority.

Under this Project L.U.K.A.S., the Regional Director ordered the deployment of police officers known as “Pulis sa Barangay” (PSB) with the help of barangay (village) officials who will conduct household visitations and present an audiovisual explainer underscoring awareness and education on how to prevent and avoid the occurrence of rape incidents in their household.

In addition, the Regional Community Affairs and Development Division cascaded said project to 296 Pulis sa Barangay (PSB) and 10 Chiefs, Police Community Affairs and Development Units (PCADUs) and Police Community Relations Officers to ensure that they are well equipped and knowledgeable in implementing the project in their respective area of operation.#
