Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna officially strengthened its collaboration with Arizona State University on Wednesday, May 20, during a ceremony held at the MMCL Auditorium, further expanding access to globally aligned education for students across the CALABARZON region.
The enhanced partnership marks a major milestone for the institution as it broadens opportunities for students in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon to access international-quality education while remaining rooted in their local communities.
As part of the Mapúa Education system, Mapúa MCL remains the first and only education group in the country with a system-wide collaboration with ASU, recognized as the top university in the United States for innovation.
Initially centered on business and health sciences programs, the collaboration has now expanded to cover all undergraduate programs offered by Mapúa MCL. Through the initiative, students will gain access to ASU-enhanced coursework, international learning opportunities, AI-driven educational systems, and globally recognized degree pathways available both on campus and online.
Artificial intelligence integration is among the key focus areas of the strengthened partnership. Through ASU’s innovation frameworks and learning models, Mapúa MCL aims to further develop AI-enabled learning strategies and digital mastery programs designed to prepare students for emerging industries and rapidly evolving technologies.
According to Dodjie Maestrecampo, the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to producing globally competitive and future-ready graduates who can contribute meaningfully to nation-building and societal development.
Maestrecampo also emphasized that the integration of AI into education gives CALABARZON students a stronger advantage in adapting to the demands of the future workforce, particularly in industries increasingly shaped by automation, digital transformation, and advanced technologies.
With CALABARZON recognized as one of the country’s major industrial hubs and a leading source of globally competitive workers, the expanded partnership positions Mapúa MCL as a gateway for students seeking world-class education closer to home.
Founded in 2006, Mapúa MCL has continued to strengthen its reputation as one of Southern Luzon’s leading higher education institutions, recognized for strong board examination performance, high graduate employability, and international academic distinctions.
Among its recent achievements are inclusion in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, recognition in the 2026 World University Rankings for Innovation Global Top 500 Innovative Universities, and a three-star overall rating from the QS Stars Rating System, with five-star distinctions in employability, online learning, and social impact.
The collaboration also opens expanded opportunities for global immersion, industry exposure, research development, and faculty exchanges through the ASU–Cintana Alliance, a global network of innovative universities. Students will likewise gain access to international certificates and microcredentials aimed at strengthening career readiness in an increasingly competitive global workforce.
