Commuters traveling between Laguna and Cavite can now look forward to faster, easier, and more convenient journeys with the opening of CALAX Subsection 3, which extends the Cavite-Laguna Expressway to the Governor’s Drive Interchange in General Trias City.

The new section expands CALAX to 26 kilometers, connecting Mamplasan in Biñan, Laguna to General Trias, Cavite. For daily commuters, workers, students, and business travelers, this means shorter travel times, less time stuck in traffic, and more time for work, family, and rest.

A Faster and more comfortable commute

According to local business leaders, the new subsection can cut travel time between Laguna and Cavite’s industrial centers to about 26 minutes. This is a major improvement for thousands of commuters who travel daily between the two provinces for work and business.

“General Trias is no longer a place that is difficult to reach,” said Florencio Ayos, President of the GenTri Business Club. “Better roads open more opportunities for workers, entrepreneurs, and investors alike.”

Better access to jobs, schools, and services

Local officials say the project is not only about infrastructure, but also about improving everyday life. With smoother access to commercial districts, schools, hospitals, and tourism sites, residents can enjoy greater convenience and mobility.

General Trias Mayor Luis “Jon Jon” Ferrer IV described the interchange as “a gateway to greater opportunities” for the city and its neighboring communities.

Dasmariñas Mayor Jennifer Barzaga also emphasized that the expressway supports a better quality of life by improving access to commerce, education, and tourism.

Boosting local growth and community development

Communities near the new interchange are already seeing positive effects. Barangay officials reported growing business activity, new job opportunities, increased land value, and improved movement of goods and services.

For commuters, these developments could mean more employment options closer to home and better-connected communities across Cavite and Laguna.

A step toward a more connected future

The opening of CALAX Subsection 3 marks another step toward a more connected and competitive Southern Luzon. As road networks improve, commuters can expect safer, more efficient travel and stronger economic opportunities throughout the region.

CALAX is developed and operated by MPCALA Holdings Inc. in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
