Good news for Lagunenses: Gov. Sol Aragones launches free cataract surgery program starting August 27

Qualified Lagunenses will soon benefit from another free healthcare initiative of the Provincial Government of Laguna as Governor Sol Aragones announced the start of the Free Cataract Surgery Program on August 27, 2026.

The first batch of beneficiaries is scheduled to undergo the procedure on the said date, providing eligible residents with access to sight-restoring treatment at no cost. The program aims to help individuals suffering from cataracts while easing the financial burden of surgery, which typically costs ₱10,000 to ₱80,000 per eye.

Governor Aragones said the initiative is part of the provincial government’s continuing commitment to make essential medical services more accessible to Lagunenses. Through the program, beneficiaries will receive quality eye care without having to shoulder the high cost of cataract surgery, allowing more residents to regain clearer vision and improve their quality of life.

In addition to the Free Cataract Surgery Program, the Provincial Government will continue conducting free medical screenings every Wednesday to Saturday for residents who wish to avail themselves of other healthcare services, including Free X-ray, Free Laboratory Tests, and Free Electrocardiogram (ECG).

These healthcare programs are already being implemented and are set to be further expanded to reach more communities across Laguna, reinforcing the provincial government’s commitment to accessible and inclusive healthcare for every Lagunense.
