Calamba City District Representative Cha Hernandez has filed a resolution calling for an investigation into the severe flooding in Cebu caused by Typhoon Tino.
Hernandez emphasized the need to hold accountable those responsible for negligence, corruption, or violations of environmental laws that contribute to environmental destruction.
“Assistance alone is not enough for our fellow Filipinos in Cebu. Justice must also be served,” Hernandez said, highlighting the importance of addressing the root causes of disasters, not just their immediate impacts.
The lawmaker also stressed the continuous vigilance required to safeguard the environment. “We will continue monitoring environmental issues not only in Calamba but across the country, because human lives depend on how responsibly we treat our natural resources,” she added.
The resolution seeks to ensure transparency, accountability, and stronger enforcement of environmental laws to prevent future tragedies.
