In a significant step toward promoting environmental sustainability, the City Government of Biñan has officially launched its Electronic Recyclable Drop Box initiative, known as E-BIN, aimed at encouraging responsible disposal of electronic waste (e-waste).
The project, spearheaded by the Information and Communication Technology Office (ICTO) of Biñan in collaboration with HMR Envirocycle Philippines, Inc., was inaugurated on Monday, June 2, at the Biñan City Hall Lobby, where the first E-BIN unit is now stationed.

The E-BIN is a dedicated drop box that provides residents, employees, and visitors with an accessible and eco-friendly option to dispose of old and unused electronic devices. Accepted items include a wide range of e-waste such as mobile phones, laptops, tablets, cameras, keyboards, monitors, cables, and cords.
The initiative addresses the rising concern over improper disposal of electronic gadgets, which contain hazardous materials that can harm the environment if not handled properly.
The partnership with HMR Envirocycle Philippines, Inc., a Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-accredited facility, ensures that all collected e-waste will be processed, recycled, or disposed of in accordance with national environmental standards.
Biñan residents are encouraged to make use of the E-BIN during City Hall operating hours. The LGU plans to expand the program to other locations within the city depending on public response and participation.
