Camp BGen Vicente P Lim – The Police Regional Office CALABARZON led by the Regional Director, PBGEN Paul Kenneth T Lucas presented significant accomplishments in its ongoing efforts to combat the proliferation of loose firearms within the region held today, at MPC Hall, this camp.

From October 1 to December 13, 2023, PRO4A personnel conducted various operations, including search warrants, Oplan Katok, and other strategic initiatives, resulting in the confiscation, seizure, recovery, and surrender of a substantial number of firearms.

Operating units confiscated 191 and recovered 8 loose firearms, while 28 were surrendered and 551 were turned in to authorities. With this accomplishment, PRO4A was able to arrest 182 individuals and filed cases to court in relation to violation of RA 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

“Our primary goal in these operations is to mitigate shooting incidents and other criminal activities involving the use of illegal firearms to ensure the safety of our communities,” PBGEN Paul Kenneth T Lucas said.

The firearms seized were often in the possession of individuals involved in criminal activities posing a direct threat to public safety. Through these efforts, PRO4A aims to curtail the potential for violence and create a secure environment for the residents of CALABARZON.

The PRO4A continuously implements robust preventive measures to avoid indiscriminate firing and related incidents such as public awareness campaigns to intensify efforts to educate the public on the dangers of indiscriminate firing and the legal consequences associated with it.

“Our personnel will conduct heightened patrols and set up checkpoints in strategic areas to deter any unlawful activities, including the illegal discharge of firearms. We are also collaborating closely with local government units, community leaders, and other stakeholders to foster a collective approach in maintaining peace and order during this festive season,” RD Lucas added.

The Regional Director also urges the public to partner with authorities in creating a secure environment, especially during the coming Yuletide season.

The loose firearms presented will be turned-in to the Regional Civil Security Unit 4A for proper disposal.(RPIO4A)
