During a press conference at the Municipal Hall last Thursday, September 26, Alaminos’ first-term Mayor Glenn P. Flores showcased major milestones and upcoming projects in Alaminos, Laguna.
Mayor Flores emphasized that engaging with the media provides a valuable opportunity to inform the public and stakeholders about important developments in the town. This includes international representation, increased local income, and the success of various social and health programs. He noted that these accomplishments reflect the municipality’s growing trust and partnerships with external organizations and the local community.
Mayor Flores proudly stated that Alaminos is the only municipality participating in both the United Nations International Mayor’s Forum and the China-ASEAN Mayor’s Forum, marking vital steps in positioning Alaminos on the global stage.
These international engagements have also paved the way for potential investors and strategic partnerships. Under his leadership, Flores has brought valuable opportunities for investment, infrastructure development, and knowledge sharing, all of which directly benefit local project implementation.
Alaminos Mayor also reported a significant increase in local revenue sources. Local revenue rose from P46.16 million in 2020 and P42.24 million in 2021 to P56.33 million in 2022, reaching P74.84 million as of August 2024. This growth indicates that residents and local businesses are more actively engaged, paying their taxes and fees, which reflects administration.
Flores also announced that the municipality of Alaminos has achieved the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) at the regional level and is currently undergoing national validation. This marks the first time in Alaminos’ history that such recognition has been attained, reflecting the municipality’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards in governance, transparency, and public service.
Outstanding Social Services
The municipality has implemented essential services such as medical check-ups, laboratory work, and feeding programs in partnership with Bounty Cares Foundation and Blesces Diagnostic. The Flores administration has also offered free cataract screenings and surgeries, along with a dental mission in collaboration with the Lions Club San Pablo.
Additionally, Alaminos is set to open a dialysis center, a crucial initiative aimed at providing essential healthcare services to residents and improving access to quality medical care for individuals facing kidney-related health issues.
Flores has also implemented educational incentives for honor graduates, acknowledging the achievements of elementary, high school, and college students. These incentives are designed to support and encourage academic excellence among students in Alaminos.
New Government Center in Alaminos, Laguna
Mayor Flores proudly introduced the New Government Center project in Barangay San Agustin. This modern complex will centralize essential public services and administrative functions, enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of governance for the community. Adopting a one-stop-shop approach, it will house key offices, including the Alaminos Police Station, Bureau of Fire Protection, MDDRMO, an amphitheater, and municipal government offices under one roof.
This state-of-the-art facility will offer numerous benefits, such as improved public safety, enhanced disaster response, streamlined services, increased civic engagement, and economic growth.
Mayor Flores noted that the government center is owned by the local government of Alaminos and has successfully navigated the necessary legal processes to ensure full compliance with the comprehensive development plan established by the previous administration. This careful adherence not only demonstrates this administration’s commitment but also underscores its dedication to advancing the strategic vision for community development.
“Our administration continues to put Alaminos at the forefront of innovation, trust, and service. From our participation in international forums to our social service programs like free cataract operations and feeding programs, we are committed to improving the quality of life for every Alaminozens.” Mayor Glenn P. Flores said.
