In celebration of the 124th anniversary of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), a tree-growing activity was spearheaded by CSC Chairman Carlo Nograles in Biñan, Laguna. The event, themed “Malasakit sa Kalikasan, Malasakit sa Lingkod Bayani,” was held as part of a simultaneous tree-growing effort across seventeen regions in the country.
The chosen site for the activity was Barangay Dela Paz in Biñan, a catch basin prone to flooding from Laguna Lake due to rain and storms. Over a thousand trees, mostly bamboo, were planted with the aim of mitigating future flooding issues.

Nograles emphasized that this tree-growing initiative is a way for government employees to contribute to environmental conservation. The funds raised from this activity will be used to support the families of deceased government employees, offering financial aid or scholarships to the bereaved.

The local government of Biñan, represented by the CENRO, will oversee the care and maintenance of the planted trees until they fully mature. Biñan City Mayor Arman Dimaguila noted that even if only 80% of the planted trees survive, it would still be a significant contribution to the city, especially in Barangay Dela Paz, which often experiences prolonged flooding due to overflowing water from Laguna Lake.
