Healthcare services in San Pedro City are set to receive a significant upgrade following the signing of Republic Act No. 12205 by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on May 8. The new law increases the authorized bed capacity of the Laguna Provincial Hospital – San Pedro District Hospital in Barangay San Antonio, San Pedro City, from 15 to 50 beds.
RA 12205 originated from House Bill 10146, authored by Laguna 1st District Representative Ann Matibag. The bill, which aimed to expand the hospital’s capacity and allocate the necessary funding, was approved on its third and final reading last February before being enacted into law.
“This long-awaited Better Tomorrow for the San Pedro District Hospital is now a reality—one that will directly benefit our fellow citizens,” said Rep. Matibag.
In addition to increasing bed capacity, the law mandates the expansion of professional healthcare services and the hiring of more doctors, nurses, and support personnel—ensuring improved medical care for the growing population of San Pedro City.
Meanwhile, Congresswoman Ann Matibag has been officially proclaimed by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) for another term as the representative of Laguna’s 1st District. Running unopposed, she is set to continue her service, offering what she describes as “mother-like” care and leadership to her constituents.
