Representative Juan Carlos “Arjo” Atayde on Thursday officially took his oath as the duly reelected representative of Quezon City’s First District before Supreme Court Associate Justice Samuel H. Gaerlan. In a meaningful ceremony, Atayde renewed his commitment to public service and vowed to continue his signature “Aksyon Agad” brand of governance.

He emphasized that the oath-taking symbolizes both a renewal of his responsibilities and a challenge to serve better and more efficiently in his second term.

Atayde declared.

Championing Pro-People Legislation

During his first term in Congress, Atayde earned praise for authoring and supporting several key laws aimed at protecting the welfare of workers, consumers, and the broader Filipino public.

Among the landmark measures he backed were:

The Eddie Garcia Act, which advocates for safe and fair working conditions in the entertainment industry;

The Internet Transactions Act, which bolsters consumer protections for online buyers and sellers;

The New Government Procurement Act, which ensures transparency and accountability in government spending.

He also played a significant role in advancing legislation that improves healthcare and labor rights. This includes the Regional Specialty Centers Act, which mandates the creation of specialized medical facilities across the country, and the Magna Carta for Filipino Seafarers, a law aimed at safeguarding the welfare of overseas Filipino maritime workers.

To address food security and inflation, Atayde supported the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act, a crucial measure to combat large-scale agricultural smuggling and stabilize food prices for consumers.

Commitment to the People

“As your representative for a second term, this is a renewed call to address the needs of the district—not just through the delivery of public services but by enacting laws that uplift lives,” Atayde said.

He was accompanied at the ceremony by his father, businessman Art Atayde, and cousin, administrative officer Gab Atayde.

Concluding his message, Atayde reaffirmed his dedication to the people of District 1:
