Visa contactless payments are now available at MRT-3 stations, offering over 350,000 daily commuters a quicker, safer, and cashless way to pay for their rides.

Starting today, passengers can conveniently tap their Visa credit, debit, or prepaid card—or any Visa-enabled mobile device—directly at the turnstiles. This launch is part of Visa’s ongoing support for open-loop transit systems in the Philippines, in collaboration with GCash and the Department of Transportation.

“We’re proud to introduce Visa contactless payments to MRT-3 and help transform the daily commute for millions of Filipinos. This is a major step toward creating a more connected, cashless future for public transportation in the Philippines. Our partnership with the Department of Transportation and GCash allows us to deliver faster, safer, and more seamless journeys for commuters in Metro Manila,” said Jeff Navarro, Country Manager, Visa Philippines.

The open-loop contactless system aims to enhance the commuting experience for more than 350,000 passengers who use the rail line daily. It marks a significant move toward modernizing the country’s public transport system and improving everyday travel.
