STA. CRUZ, Laguna – Former 3rd District Representative Sol Aragones is championing a series of pro-poor initiatives as she campaigns for the position of Governor of Laguna province. Among her primary focuses are improvements in healthcare services, expanded educational opportunities, and prompt assistance for those in need.
In an interview following her filing of the Certificate of Candidacy on Monday, October 7, Aragones elaborated on her governance agenda, highlighting the urgent need to enhance health services in provincial hospitals and empower healthcare workers. She aims to ensure that medical and laboratory services are readily accessible to residents, reducing their reliance on facilities outside the province.
“I will be actively present in the provincial hospitals to guarantee that medical services are effectively administered,” she stated, emphasizing the importance of empowering doctors and fostering a positive attitude among medical personnel.
Aragones is also a strong advocate for free education, believing it to be a vital tool for uplifting families. She plans to enroll students who may have lower academic performance—often referred to colloquially as “palakol”—to provide them with opportunities for improvement and better living conditions.
Furthermore, she aims to streamline the process for individuals seeking assistance, advocating for immediate support without the traditional requirement of lengthy documentation that often exacerbates their difficulties.
Aragones currently serves as chairperson of the Akay National Political Party and the Akay ni Sol Partylist, both of which are local political organizations gearing up for the upcoming 2025 Midterm National and Local Elections on May 12, 2025. “We are better prepared this time than in previous elections,” Aragones asserted, expressing confidence in her campaign efforts.
