CALAMBA CITY, Laguna– An executive of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industries (PCCI) welcomed the creation of Public Private Partnership (PPP) Center in the city during a dialogue held today at Café-talista Community Café, The Junction Strip Mall, Carmelray Industrial Park I, Canlubang Village here.
In an interview, Relly Fajardo, vice chairperson, committee on investment promotion and taxation of PCCI, said that creation of the PPP Center in the city will provide access to funds, permanent location and stable office and capability building.
“With the available funds, the PPP Center can offer capability building for the local government unit (LGU) staff,” she explained adding that being a former mayor herself, she is aware of the need of LGUs in terms of skills training of employees than getting outside consultants.
In addition, Fajardo wanted to link the LGU of Calamba with the PPP Center and forged an agreement to equip the LGU with technical knowhow so that they can be abreast with the current trends that offer a lot of business opportunities.
“We are going to work it out as the output of this event,” she explained.
Moreover, Fajardo said that the for the first time big business groups have come together expressing their willingness to help and mentor small and medium enterprises as “ big brother “in the light of the direction of the Calamba LGU towards a business friendly environment.
Attending the event representing the LGU were heads of the City Legal Office, Business Permit and Licensing Office, City Cooperative and Livelihood Office and the City Administrator.
Representing the business sector were officers of Calamba Business Chamber, Laguna Chamber of Commerce, Calamba Brotherhood of Businessmen and Professionals, Rotary Club, Carmelray Industrial Park Association among others. Supporting the event were Pag-Ibig Fund, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Laguna, Security Bank and Air 21.
