Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the tollways arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), announced a series of strategic leadership appointments aimed at further strengthening its executive team and enhancing operational efficiency across its network of infrastructure companies.
Gilbert F. Santa Maria has been appointed as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of MPTC, succeeding long-serving executive Jose Ma. K. Lim. Alongside this major leadership change, the company also named Marisa V. Conde as Interim Group Chief Finance Officer, Luis S. Reñon as President and General Manager of NLEX Corporation, and Christopher Andrew B. Pangilinan as President and General Manager of MPT South Corporation, a role he will hold concurrently with his current position as President and CEO of Metro Pacific Water.
Driving Innovation and Transformation
Santa Maria brings with him nearly three decades of leadership experience across aviation, technology-enabled services, and infrastructure. Known for driving transformation and growth in both local and international markets, he is expected to lead MPTC into its next phase of development and innovation.
“Tollways are nation-building in motion,” said Santa Maria. “Our mandate is to keep people and goods moving—complete ongoing infrastructure projects, elevate the customer experience, and deploy advanced technologies to enable interoperable toll collection, all in close collaboration with regulators and local communities.”
Strengthening Finance and Regional Operations
Marisa V. Conde, a seasoned financial leader within the MPIC Group, takes on the role of Interim Group CFO, bringing with her a strong background in controllership, treasury, and corporate finance. Her role will be pivotal in shaping MPTC’s financial strategy during this period of transition and growth.
Meanwhile, Luis S. Reñon will head NLEX Corporation, the company behind major toll road projects including the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), and NLEX Connector. His leadership is expected to further drive mobility and economic activity across Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Northern Luzon.
Christopher Andrew B. Pangilinan assumes the leadership of MPT South Corporation, which operates the Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), including the C5 Link, and the Cavite–Laguna Expressway (CALAX). These expressways serve as vital arteries for the rapidly growing Cavite and Laguna corridors. Pangilinan will continue to lead Metro Pacific Water, ensuring synergies across MPIC’s infrastructure investments.
Leadership Legacy and Transition
Outgoing CEO Jose Ma. K. Lim, a respected figure in the tollways and infrastructure sectors, will remain involved in the MPIC Group in an advisory and board capacity, ensuring a smooth transition and continued guidance for the organization.
These appointments signal MPTC’s commitment to driving innovation, strengthening operations, and delivering infrastructure solutions that support economic development and improve the quality of life for Filipinos.
