Mekeni Food Corporation (Mekeni) once again demonstrated its commitment to compassion as it held its annual gift-giving program on October 24, 2025, reaching out to underserved communities across Pampanga. Guided by its long-standing value of malasakit, the company continued its tradition of sharing kindness through meaningful acts of service.
This year’s initiative brought Mekeni volunteers to four partner institutions: Munting Tahanan ng Nazareth in Mabalacat City, as well as Bahay Pag-ibig and the Children’s Home of Eucharistic Love and Kindness in San Fernando. Employees delivered essential goods—including food products and toiletries—to children, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities, offering not just supplies but also comfort and encouragement.
“This program reminds us that compassion is most meaningful when it becomes part of who we are,” said Mr. Prudencio S. Garcia, President of Mekeni. “Every year, our people come together not only to give, but to listen, connect, and show that the community can always count on us. That is the kind of malasakit we want to nurture at Mekeni.”
The program has become a cherished company tradition, strengthened by the consistent support of employees who donate resources and volunteer their time.
“Our employees have always been at the heart of this program,” said Ms. Marilou Uy, Assistant Vice President for HR and Exports. “Their generosity and volunteerism embody Mekeni’s spirit of unity and service.”
HR Head Ms. Apple Garcia added, “What we offer may be simple, but the joy and hope we bring to these communities mean so much more.”
For more than thirty years, Mekeni has remained dedicated to uplifting communities and fostering a culture of caring. Through initiatives like this, the company continues to show that true success lies in the positive impact it creates.
