Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia participated in the Contract Signing and Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new COMELEC Main Building in Pasay City on Sept. 2
Currently, COMELEC is leasing several buildings, including multiple floors at Palacio del Gobernador in Intramuros, Manila. Chairman Garcia noted that the new facility will reduce operational costs by providing a dedicated, owned space for the Commission.
Chairman Garcia commented, โThis project reflects the Commission on Elections’ commitment to maintaining its independence and integrity. While the building itself is merely a symbol, it represents our dedication to providing genuine service to the people.โ
Unlike other agencies and departments, COMELEC does not yet have its own building. The new office, planned for completion by 2028, is a significant project with an estimated cost of PHP 8.2 billion, set to be finished within three to four years.
