The Social Security System (SSS) Luzon South 1 Division has kicked off its 2025 Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) Campaign, with 13 branch offices across the region issuing violation notices to delinquent employers.
Edwin S. Igharas, SSS Vice President for Luzon South 1 Division, announced that 132 employers in Cavite, Laguna, and Quezon were identified in violation. Of these, 87 failed to remit a total of P15.48 million in SSS contributions, including penalties, while 45 employers were issued warnings for failing to register their businesses with the SSS.
“Employees rely on SSS benefits for financial support during times of need. Employers who neglect their responsibility to remit contributions and register their businesses not only break the law but also deny their workers the benefits they deserve,” Igharas emphasized.
He reaffirmed SSS’ commitment to upholding workers’ rights through the RACE Campaign. “Timely and accurate remittance is not only a legal duty but a moral obligation for employers,” he said.
Delinquent employers are given 15 days to contact their local SSS branch and settle their outstanding contributions to avoid legal action. Igharas also noted that business owners could benefit from condonation programs and flexible payment terms.
“We are sending a strong message that SSS will take decisive action to protect Filipino workers. We encourage employers to comply voluntarily for the benefit of their employees’ future,” he added.
Failure to comply with SSS regulations may result in penalties, including imprisonment of six years and one day to 12 years, and/or fines ranging from ₱5,000 to ₱20,000.
