SANTA CRUZ, Laguna – The team of Dan Fernandez for Governor and Gem Castillo-Amante for Vice Governor in Laguna aims to leverage Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) to drive development in infrastructure, tourism, and health services following the upcoming 2025 Mid-term National and Local Elections on May 12, 2025.

In an interview on Sunday, October 6, after filing his Certificate of Candidacy as Governor, Dan Fernandez, currently serving as the representative of the Lone District of Santa Rosa City in the 19th Congress, expressed his vision for collaborating with the private sector. He emphasized the importance of developing tourism sites and residential-industrial parks, particularly in the 3rd and 4th Districts, to match the progress achieved in the 1st and 2nd Districts.

Fernandez highlighted the need to improve the nine district hospitals operated by the Provincial Government, aiming to elevate the quality of healthcare services through the expertise and resources that the private sector can provide.

He also discussed the construction of the Laguna Road Network Phase I, which will span from Taguig to Los Baños at a projected cost of PHP 175 billion. “This is Phase I of the project, with funds already secured and the detailed engineering design 100% completed,” Fernandez stated.

He plans to advocate for Phase II, which will extend the lakeshore highway from Calamba City to Santa Cruz town up to Jalajala town and back to Manila, with an estimated cost of PHP 375 billion. “This will accelerate growth in the 3rd and 4th districts, attracting investors to a more accessible area,” he added.

A pressing concern for Fernandez is the rehabilitation of Laguna Lake, which requires dredging to address its current depth of approximately 2.5 meters. He warned that failure to act could result in flooding in lakeshore barangays during heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, Gem Castillo-Amante champions good governance, emphasizing that plans and programs should genuinely serve the best interests of the community, aligning with her slogan, “Everybody’s Happy.”
