Acting Vice Mayor Barbie Diaz orders audit of JO Workers in San Pablo City Council

Acting Vice Mayor Barbie Diaz has ordered the accounting and monitoring of all regular employees and job order (JO) workers under the Office of the Vice Mayor and the offices of members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

Speaking before employees, Diaz said the move is part of her initial efforts to ensure that all workers are performing their assigned duties and to address allegations involving so-called “ghost employees” or individuals receiving salaries despite allegedly not reporting for work.

“Bawal po ang multo,” Diaz said, emphasizing that all 155 JO workers under the Office of the Vice Mayor must be properly accounted for and have clearly defined responsibilities.

Diaz said the current temporary changes in the leadership of the city government and the Sangguniang Panlungsod have placed greater responsibility on officials to ensure transparency and accountability in government operations.

She also called for an end to favoritism and the practice of “palakasan” or “padrino” in the hiring and management of workers.

According to Diaz, the audit will cover all regular employees and JO workers assigned to the Office of the Vice Mayor, as well as personnel working in the offices of the city’s council members.

She said the initiative is intended to ensure that every JO worker has a clear role and reports regularly for work.

Diaz also assured JO workers that those who perform their duties will receive their full daily pay.

“If you work, I will make sure that the full P600 per day goes to you,” Diaz said, adding that there would be no deductions or unauthorized sharing of their salaries.

She stressed that the initiative is aimed at cleaning up the operations of the Sangguniang Panlungsod and strengthening accountability among government personnel.
