Mapua Malayan Digital College (MMDC), one of the newest business units under Mapúa, is carving its niche in higher education by focusing on the needs of working students.
At its launch, the institution’s primary goal was not to establish a digital college, but to provide access and flexibility for learners who balance jobs and studies. This vision eventually led to the decision to go fully online, offering class schedules in the morning, afternoon, and evening.
MDC departs from traditional methods of online teaching. Instead of long lectures, tests, and exams, students are immersed in problems, projects, and case studies designed to mirror real-world tasks. The approach is aimed at equipping learners with practical skills essential for career advancement or career shifts.
This setup also redefines the role of faculty members, who serve more as mentors than lecturers, guiding students through skill-building activities across the term.
By aligning education with the realities of today’s workforce, MDC positions itself as a flexible and career-focused institution, designed to help working students succeed.
