As part of the National Arts Month celebrations this February, the city of Biñan has formally inaugurated the Biñan City Center for Performing Arts. The event, which coincides with the city’s local celebration of its foundation day, began with a vibrant parade featuring the people of Biñan, followed by the grand opening ceremony at Plaza Rizal, a key part of the city’s cultural district.
The new performing arts center was established as a testament to the city’s ongoing commitment to nurturing the talents of its youth and preserving its rich cultural heritage. The facility is not only a venue for showcasing artistic performances but also a space dedicated to fostering creativity and excellence among the next generation of performers.
A highlight of the opening was the presence of National Artist for Music, Ryan Cayabyab, who graced the event as a special guest. Cayabyab, a staunch advocate for the development of Philippine culture, expressed his support for the city’s efforts to enhance the arts scene and further cultivate the talents of Biñan’s young artists.
In addition to the opening of the center, the Biñan City Council also passed a resolution declaring the year from August 7, 2024, to August 7, 2025, as the “Biñan Theater Arts Year” to further promote the performing arts in the city.
The Biñan City Center for Performing Arts is expected to become a hub for cultural exchange and artistic development, allowing residents and visitors to experience world-class performances while celebrating the city’s diverse artistic traditions.
(“In this place, the people of Biñan, especially the youth, will flourish. Here, those who are not from Biñan will see the immense talent of our residents. In this venue, our schools will hold recitals, mini concerts, and more. The sports arena is incredibly spacious, and this is where all these events will take place.”) Dimaguila said.
To better accommodate visitors, the Biñan City LGU has also opened an elevated parking area to provide ample space for vehicles.
Biñan is known as “The City of Life,” and this is one of the reasons why bringing the city’s culture and history to life is so important.
